Down We Go

The morning my three-year-old taught me to see color again.

This song stems back to a bright, still morning visiting Guam — my daughter, just three years old, is about to be exposed to the under life of the ocean she has never seen before in person. She stood at the edge of the water, sure it was going to be scary.

Then she put her face under — and the fear just left her. That gasp through the snorkel wasn’t fright; it was wonder.

The song itself was composed years ago and I took modern artificial singing capabilities to finalize a vocal filled tune.

This is the first release of music composed in hybrid form. Completely original from the mind of Jeremy, yet refined and performed with the help of artificial intelligence. In a world where an original piece of music created by you, but performed by AI, I am learning to embrace the changes and take musical creations to a unique new place.

Lyrics

Three years old with a mask too big
And the ocean's holding still
Salt on her shoulders, my hand in hers
"What if it's scary, dad?" — "I'll be right here"

Hold your breath, sweetheart, 1, 2, 3
Down we go beneath the sea
Through the snorkel she gasps but it's not from fear
She forgets to be scared, she forgets I'm here
Down we go, down we go
Down we go, down we go

Parrotfish flashing like underwater flame
Coral like a kingdom no one's ever named
She points and she squeals through a mouthful of sea
A whole world singing back at her and me

Hold your breath, sweetheart, 1, 2, 3
Down we go beneath the sea
Through the snorkel she gasps but it's not from fear
She forgets to be scared, she forgets I'm here
Down we go, down we go
Down we go, down we go

I thought I was bringing her down to see
But she was the one bringing it back to me
A little hand in mine, a face in the light
And every color I'd stopped seeing came alive

Hold your breath, sweetheart, 1, 2, 3
Down we go beneath the sea
Through the snorkels we laugh and it's not from fear
We forget to be scared, we forget where we are
Down we go, down we go
(just look at her go…)
Down we go, down we go
(just look at her go…)
